Daughyztau & Kyzylkum Desert. On the return from the Vysokovoltnoye deposit the group had the opportunity to view the Daughyztau open pit (left) where a thin oxide zone (bleached and red in image) overlies sulphide ore (dark zone in image) similar to that at Amantaytau. Closer to Muruntau, the group stopped to study un-altered equivalent sediments to the hosts at Muruntau and Amantaytau in a road cutting through the ridge in the image above.
