Zarmitan visit. On Monday 18 September the Tour group visited the Zarmitan deposits which are approximately 2 hours north of Samarkand. Left: Mine General Manager (and ex-Chief Geologist) Nuraliev Normurad (second from left) provided a comprehensive, expert geological overview of the deposit, its setting and mineralisation. Images to right: The group was then taken to the Zarmitan open pit (above the underground workings) to view the mineralised veins, hosts and associated alteration.
